STUDY TOUR

Taiwan, Shanghai and Xian

Phillips Exeter Academy offers a five-week summer study tour for students who are interested in Chinese language and culture. Students will study four weeks at Providence University in Taichung on the west coast of Taiwan. Language classes are held each weekday morning for two hours. During the two-hour afternoon break students eat lunch, use the language lab, or enjoy the athletic facilities.

Afternoons feature ninety-minute culture classes in calligraphy, painting and Taichi, with excursions to various cultural sites. Students are lodged with Chinese-speaking families in the city. Weekend activites offer students the opportunity to explore various sites in Taiwan, such as the Formosan Aboriginal Culture Villages, the National Palace Museum, Yangming National Park and Keting National Park.

The program also includes a four-day trip to Shanghai and Xian. Students can tour the cities and other historic sites.
